The Benefits Of TRX

03 Feb 2016

In the health and fitness industry, we see a number of ‘interesting’ concepts and a lot of fads. Some of these exercises and diets actually have no basis in science, whilst others can of course work quite well. You may have heard of TRX suspension training – those funny-looking straps hanging on the wall – and that is definitely a goodie, despite seeming strange at first. Its fitness benefits are genuine, trust me! So welcome to our latest Hereford fitness blog, which is all about the biggest positives of incorporating TRX into your workout….

Limitless versatility

Our bodies are all different. Some people are simply able to do certain exercises and movements whilst others are not. But the TRX system allows you to adjust the difficulty of any exercise to suit your strength and flexibility instantly. This means that instead of skipping a certain exercise, say push-ups, with the TRX you can have a go but at your own level.

It is portable

As with most unfamiliar pieces of gym equipment, I recommend that you try the TRX with us on-hand, so we can be sure that you are exercising safely! Once we have helped you understand the basics, the equipment is readily available to purchase so you can use it at home as well as at Holmer Park. The TRX may not look that sturdy but it can support up to 1,400 pounds of weight. That’s 70% of a tonne!! As long as it is secured properly, you can take it anywhere you want.

Many different exercises

Despite the fact that TRX is relatively basic, there are almost a limitless number of exercises that you can do with the straps. So you’re unlikely to get bored doing the same thing over and over again. We all know that when training gets boring, we’ll lose our initial enthusiasm and motivation. TRX is going to challenge you each time. Come and grab me and I’ll prove it!

It maximizes your training time

When someone’s asked you if you’ve been to the gym much lately, have you ever heard yourself answer, “I don’t have the time!” Well, you’ll have to find a new excuse, I’m afraid! With the TRX, you can switch between exercises in under 15 seconds, which means you can cram a lot in in a short space of time. I’m talking about short-burst circuit-style workouts, where you really maximize your training time.

You build up your core

A lot of people would like a flatter, more contoured stomach. But a strong core has many benefits on top of looking good! A powerful core will build up your overall strength, as well as support the spine and help prevent injuries. The TRX is especially good for strengthening the core because your movements in the straps make your torso focus on coordination and balance.

Get ready for exercise

Now that you’re all fired up about the TRX (!), please remember that proper form and posture within exercise minimizes the risk of injury. TRX training is no different, so again please try it first under the supervision of one of the instructors at Holmer Park. If you’re a member, come see for yourself what TRX suspension training has to offer. If you’re not, book your free VIP day pass and do the same!
