Spinning classes are some of the most popular exercise sessions at Holmer Park Health Club & Spa in Hereford. There are so many different benefits to spinning. You can use the classes to push your fitness to its limits, lose weight or tone up or just have fun.
I’m Stuart, one of the spin Instructors at Holmer Park. We run a number of different spin classes across the week (classes are free to members and can be easily booked online). But as mentioned I’d first like to tell you what some of the benefits of spin are.
You will burn calories quickly
Upwards of 500 calories will be burned in single 45-minute spinning workout. Compared to other ways of exercising, that’s a lot! The amount of calories you can burn depends on how intensely you work-out. As soon as you improve and begin to adjust the level of your spin bike accordingly, you can increase the amount of calories lost in a session.
Improve at your own pace
You always determine the intensity of your class and the amount of intensity you put in – even when working out with an instructor (usually me!). The resistance control knob is found on all the bikes near the handlebars. You are in control and so can determine how much endurance and strength you gain. Yes, the instructors will to encourage you to go at a certain RPM (Rate per Minute), but as opposed to an aerobics class for example, no one ever has to feel left out. No one knows at what level you are spinning so you are free to progress at your own pace.
Less chance of injuries
There is no pressure on any pressure on any part of your body with spinning, so you don’t have to worry about the impact on your joints like with the stair stepper, elliptical, or treadmill. You can train at high impact without causing injuries to yourself.
Build amazing legs
The other benefit to spinning, aside from traditional weight loss, is that you use the large muscle groups in your legs. Soon you will start to notice that your calves, hamstring, and thighs start looking visibly better.
Working your abdominals at the same time
Your posture and technique will also be discussed by our qualified spinning instructors. The correct posture really does matter to ensure you work the correct muscle groups safely. Your upper body rhythm assists your leg rhythm during a spinning session. Moving from a slightly bent position and from side to side, helps you work the muscles on the side of your abdomens and works the core abdominal muscles.
