Holmer's Headlines May 2019

31 May 2019

Hello from your Club Manager, Steven Chadwick...

Dear Members,

I had planned to make reference to some of the lovely weather we have been having... However, as I write this, it is dark and raining. It must be the May bank holiday!

Firstly, building projects are never easy. We have worked incredibly hard to plan for everything and make the disruption as manageable as possible.

Naturally I am aware that for our male members changing in our temporary changing room for the project is a much-appreciated compromise. As I have said before we came to this conclusion by analysing our visits and it was clear that we have more female users than male (not because we are sexist, as has been suggested!). We invested in the very best option we could, and you can be sure that we spared no expense in ensuring that this was the best it possibly could be. I am extremely grateful for some of the positive feedback we have received – we are open to more suggestions to make this situation manageable; we have increased the amount of matting, added a clothes rail and have improved our walkway based on the feedback we have received.

A rumour that I am happy to quash is that “the lockers in the temporary changing room will be the lockers in the new changing room”. They really are a temporary option; they will be going away with the temporary changing room when we complete the project. We are working with a bespoke furniture manufacturer; Ridgeway FM and you can see some of their work on their website: http://www.ridgewayfm.com/

Our award-winning developers E&P Developments Ltd  have worked extremely hard and our time schedule is running perfectly to plan. All of the dusty demolition in the female changing room is now complete and we are starting to piece them back together. Although there are plans on the reception desk and we do have our live blog, I would like to share with our female members some more detailed information:

We will have 6 seated vanity units.
We will have 3 x GHD hair straighteners.
Where there is not a hair straightener provided, there will be a plug socket to use your own if you wish.
We have chosen the Babylis Black Magic as our new hairdryer as recommended by our supplier, Salon Services, of which there will be 6 in the new changing rooms as opposed to only 4.
Although I did not spend much time sat in front of the old 3 station vanity unit, I am aware that when seated you could not see in the mirror. Clearly this will not be the case when we complete the refurbishment!
We will have 6 showers all of which will have their own drain, rather than previous where 4 showers shared 3 drains.
We have chosen our toilet sheet dispensers as voted by club members in club.
We are installing a Dyson hand dryer.
We are replacing our swim suit dryer.
We are reviewing our soap supplier and hope to introduce our new Spa product supplier, Temple Spa.
Following a member’s vote, we are increasing our changing cubicles to 3 and reducing the toilets to 2. We will then review this in 3 months time.

At this incredibly exciting time for our club I hope you do not mind looking back at some of the many improvements projects that have occurred in your club since we announced our phased improvement project in Sept 2017: https://www.holmerpark.co.uk/news/view/exciting-development-programme-at-holmer-park/

We redeveloped the car park.
We installed the very latest, highest quality Technogym gym equipment.
We added the Spa thermal area and refurbished the pool hall.
We are now refurbishing the changing rooms.

With those projects and smaller projects that we have carried out over the period the level of investment into your club stands at just under 1 million pounds.

Finally thank you for being part of the Holmer Park family and if I can be of assistance, please drop me an email: [email protected]

Kind regards

Steven Chadwick

Although it has taken much longer than any of us anticipated the booking system has now been updated:

  • When joining a waiting list you can now manage that waiting list booking
  • You can see what position you are on a waiting list
  • You will automatically be added to a class if a position comes available. You no longer have to call and accept the place

View our news article https://www.holmerpark.co.uk/news/view/class-booking-system-update/ to find out more about this and other updates we have made to the booking system.

We will continue to review the booking system to ensure it works for us, but a huge thank you for your patience.
